The Eels might just be my favourite band ever, yet they do not get nearly enough recognition. I suppose their rock, but very...erm...mild? Listen to some stuff. Being a MASSIVE fan I think I know which tunes of theirs you should listen to.

They are decent, but I would have listed Lucky Day in Hell, Novocaine for the Soul (great tune) and Susans House.

They don't blow me away though. But pretty good.

They're a good band. Barely have any Eels stuff though. Didn't they make a song using a table and forks, spoons, etc. ? Saw it on Jools Holland and can't remember which band it was.

Just wait a second here, since when have they been called 'The Eels'? That sounds really bad anyway.

And I swear to god this is like the 5th Eels thread I've seen in the span of a month.

I was kind of wondering the same thing.

It's kind of the same issue with Editors or Doves. Some people just like to throw in that article-adjective.

it is, they all got bumped for some reason...

anyway, i am listening to them right now. is it just me or is the second disc of blinking lights way better than the first? maybe it is just the fact that "old shit, new shit" and "hey man" are on it.

please don't bump your thread with useless posts like this. it is frowned upon.
if people want to discuss mr.e they will.

that being said, should i get daises of the galaxy or electro-shock blues?

Thankyou TS!!

I heard a song by them about a week ago, really liked it but forgot to get an album, cheers for reminding me

Both, but 'Electro-Shock' first.
#32
I like some of their stuff, but I'm a way bigger fan of Tommy Walter's Abandoned Pools stuff.

I love Mr. E's Beautiful Blues though.

The 1st album I got by them was Dasies of the Galaxy, but I'd get both. From there, if u find u really like them, get souljacker. Then beautiful freak then shootenanny.

I just got Daisies of the Galaxy, and although I haven't listened to the entire album, the track's I've listened to so far are awesome.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Big Eels-based news!

For those of you lucky enough to get BBC 4, that is. On Monday 26th there is a documentary about Mr E and his Dad (apparently his dad was a famous quantum mathematician). Should be good.

is there a link to it so i can understand what you are talking about?

also, my dad comes up to me the other day and asks "joe, have you ever heard of a band called Eels? i heard them in a movie the other day and i really liked the song by them."

i think i am going to end up burning some of their cds for him. where do you think the best place for me to start my dad of is? my first impulse is to make a mix, but i usually don't like to do that for someone unless i have a damn near complete discography and right now i still have significant holes in this one. my second thought is starting him with Souljacker since that is where i started off, but my third thought is to go with Electroshock Blues.

It was pretty good, plus it was soundtracked by eels

Feel free to join in on the "what album 1st" debate. Personally, Dasies... as it has some excellent stand alone tracks. Then souljacker. Then a mix including the ten on post 1 and any others you like (plus "beautiful freak" - how did i miss that off?).
