I have about 500 to 600 (might go to 700 but for the most part no). I want something that does rock and punk. dont care much for cleans mostly just distortion and overdrive...I would use it for room practice and gigs, so I need something loud. I want a tube amp, not ss...so which amps should I look at when I get a chance to go to guitar center?

NO line 6. Fenders work best for cleans. Try a B-52 AT-112, Laneys, maybe a Marshall if its not too expensive. Crate has some good tube combos.

you're not gonna get a decent tube amp for under $1000, just the way it is.
I recommend either buying a vox solid state, or save up more money.

yeah I want an all tube amp...

where the **** did you buy that from I've never seen a new jcm800/900 mesa single rec, or 6505 for under $1000.

I bought a used 6505 from someone i knew and got a half price discount. it cost me $1000 dollars. so where are you buying this ****?

ebay. wait for good deals, pawn shops, craigslist. dont buy new! plain and simple. used gets you better bang for your buck. i bought my jcm900 for $650 which just happens to be $350 short of $1000. you might have to wait a while but you can get them

EDIT:5150 $600

SINGLE RECTO

JCM800

Those are all just from a quick look on ebay. so thank you sir for your opinion

There are a couple on ebay right now for $300. so that leaves $300 for a cab, you can get a pretty good cab for that from avatarspeakers.com

EDIT: well on there a 212 open back cab will be right over 300, but ebay once again is your friend

i tried one with the stock cab and it didnt sound good, but with a 1960A it sounded amazign. but thsoe are out of your price range. i would try to talk him down closer to $300 but thats just me, i like to piss off the guys at GC, well its not to piss them off i just like keeping more money in my pocket. can you make a cab, im sure you can do that for under $350 easy

Used 5150 if you don't care for cleans. You can get them for normally $500-$600 on ebay.
