I need a new iPod. I have 1,410 songs. I could live with only 1,000 on the ipod, but I'd prefer all songs. My choices are:

The new iPod touch. VERY cool iPod. Has same features as an iPhone except no phone. (interwebz, youtube, itunes built in!! photos, videos)

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8500393&type=product&id=1186004961990
about 1750 songs. $299

OR

The new iPod classic. (ironic...) 50 bucks cheaper, ALOT more songs. But no cool features aside from photos/videos. By alot more songs, I mean this one holds 20,000 songs.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8500035&type=product&id=1186004961710

Poll up in a moment. I'm leaning towards the new Touch ipod.

+1

I have about 40 gigs of music and it grows pretty exponentially. But if you're positive 1750 songs is enough space for you, it really comes down to preference.

For me, I'd take the iTouch because I don't really care about having all my music, I'd just switch different things in depending on my mood

either classic or nano. heres why: will you ever really need your entire library with you, i mean its easy enough to switch around. I think the touch is dumb and should never have been released, its exact same as iPhone but w/o the phone??? If you really want the touch screen then why not just buy the phone. if you dont have the $ for the phone get the classic, personally I dont really care how I select my music (touch vs. wheel) so the classic comes in over the touch esp. cuz they are bout the same size and there is a huge memory difference. And if you dont really need to carry your library the nano is the way to go. I recommend the nano...

The iPod touch was what I was going to get (20 Gig iPod photo died last week, 5 days out of warranty!)

but then I read the respective reviews on ilounge.com (THE site for iPod reviews) and they were not impressed by the touch, and neither am I.

Going to order a Black 80 Gig classic tonight or tomorrow.

The Touch seems gimmicky to me, the video quality is poor compared to the iPhone, and Apple took away a bunch of features so they wouldn't compete with eachother.

iPod-
$250 or $350
screen is backlit
playlists
calendar
organizer
contacts
video (don't need to worry about format because it'll convert in iTunes)
LCD screen
photo
80 or 160 GB
games

meh, there's more comparisons, but as far as I'm concerned the Zens are no competition to the new iPods.

and the zens are still cheaper
amazing software
no need for conversions ever

In case you guys care, I decided on the iPod touch. Scrolling through my itunes today, it occurred to me that I don't need every one of those songs. For example, I have 85 Eagles songs, I ****ing hate the Eagles...all kinds of bands like that. My uncle just loaded all his music onto my computer, I don't listen to most of it.

What exactly sucked about the touch? Be specific please.

Also, I won't have the money for another 3 weeks, what with homecoming dance and whatnot coming up here. You have 3 weeks to sway me. Get to it.

I can almost garauntee you that it won't last as long as the classic. Touch products tend to do that.

i bought the 160GB ipod classic and so far i only occupied 3GB. I got a long way to go. Oh well, at least i don't have to worry about taking songs off because the ipod's full.

i just got the classic and it is pretty wonderful.
i never thought i would say that about an ipod, but it has so many neat little features.
ex. if you pull the headphones out the music will automatically pause.
