So... what do people think of it? Personally I think it's really good. It's more upbeat like Bleed American, but still not quite as good as that album. Not quite as good as their last 3 albums were, but definetly way above Static Prevails.

lol, shut the f*** up, Jimmy Eat World did not break up 7 years ago, go trash some other thread with ur crap.
as for the new CD, it's not out yet! but it's probably ont he torrent already. i didn't like big casino much on the first listen, but chase this light, the title track, is amazing.
and isn't there already a huge JEW thread?
Oh, I'll break them down, no mercy shown,

Ha I'm kidding.
But seriously, they haven't released anything decent in awhile. and Futures was awful.

No it wasn't. It wasn't brilliant by any means but it was a good solid album which for me combined parts of Clarity and parts of Bleed American.

The problem with music is, its all a matter of opinion, people connect with certain albums because half the time, they will have helped them with a certain part of their life but bands have to grow and you'd be just as annoyed if they'd of re-written clarity over and over. Get over it and go on a band you still like's thread.

First of all, I enjoy deathcore for it's complexity and it's the only genre heavy enough for me

So the new CD.... Dizzy is brilliant, so is Chase This Light (but we've all heard that one on youtube ages ago), and I also like Firefight, Always Be, Gotta Be Somebody's Blues, and, after numerous listens, Big Casino. The rest of the album will have to grow on me.
Overall, if u liked JEW's earlier stuff, u'll like this CD better than Futures... I always loved Futures more than their older stuff, so this is a bit of a letdown, but it's still brilliant, especially... Dizzy! haha comparable to 23 IMO.

They peaked with Clarity and will never top it but Bleed American was good. Futures sucked. Maybe Chase This Light will be in between????

They got a pretty bad review on AP. For really stupid reasons. I haven't heard the whole thing yet but I think I'm gonna love it. It's JEW, duhh.

I'm pretty stoked for this one. JEW have yet to disappoint me. I'm even more stoked to hear all these new songs live when they stop back into Toronto this November. Third time seein' Jimmy live....should be sick

just got back from their vancouver show... holy crap. these guys are amazing live...
they played a lot of older stuff, but the one song that amazed me the most live was 23... gave me the chills and that hasn't happened since i heard limousine by brand new live.

Well, I love Chase This Light. It's not as good as Futures, but probably my 2nd favorite by them. My favorite songs are Let it Happen, Eclectable, Here It Goes (which makes me laugh everytime I listen to it because it's sooo different from alot of their stuff) and Dizzy.

I think the new one is way better than Futures. Futures sucked. Bleed American was awesome, the EP after futures was pretty good and this new one is alright. It's kind of generic sounding but in a good way. I still have never listened to the cds before Bleed American.

im pissed off. my favorite demo (be sensible) isn't on the cd...unless i missed something

I've got it as a bonus track on my album. I don't think the album is exceptional in it's whole, but there are some songs I really love.

oh, I didn't see that there was already a thread...

Well, I love Always Be, Electable, Big Casino and Carry You. Those are the best songs in Chase This Light to me. I wanna buy it! I don't know why but most of my favorite songs are played in F, E or D# harmony (is that the way it's written?). So are the cases of Always Be, Sweetness, Shame (F)... and Electable, Hear You Me (E)... and Polaris, Carry You, My Sundown (D#).

I agree, Chase This Light IS BETTER than Futures. I love Futures, Pain and Polaris, but... Chase This Light is a lot better.

I think that Bleed American has something that makes it so special, cause every song is different from the other. My Sundown is cool, and so are A Praise Chorus, Sweetness and Hear You Me. That's something I don't feel in the new album; when I first l listened to it, Firefight, Let It Happen and Stop seemed to be very similar to me, but later I started to difference them. Maybe cause they are played in similar tunes (harmonies?). But I love Chase This Light!

From Clarity, I like Blister, Ten and Clarity, of course. And I also like Over and Closer, from Stay On My Side Tonight.

But my favorite songs now are: (my top 10)

1.- My Sundown
2.- Always Be
3.- Electable
4.- Polaris
5.- Sweetness
6.- A Praise Chorus
7.- Pain
8.- Blister
9.- For Me This Is Heaven
10.- 23

This ranking may change with time :P

^you forgot Dizzy

A friend of mine who plays drums is a huge JEW... as in, a Jimmy Eat World fan haha. Okay, overused joke, but anyway, him and I listened to this CD and we like all the different songs. I like all the Futures-sounding ones and he likes all the BleedAmerican/Clarity-sounding ones... that's the cool thing about this CD, it has something for everyone. Definitely a grower too. Best CD I heard this year so far... and that's saying a lot considering Brand New's CD came out this year as well, and so did Radiohead's.
