Hey Guys,

I've been playing for about 2 years. I started on the Metallica, Megadeth, BLS, stuff.

I'm trying to branch out to more varied stuff....but I'm having a real problem with strumming patterns. I can change chords well enough to keep up with songs, but I'm having a problem with the strumming...I just can't figure it out.

Songs like:

Nickelback - "Rockstar"
STP - "Plush"
Tom Petty - "Mary Janes Last Dance"
Pretty much every song by Jack Johnson

Unfortunately, tabs only really give me the chords, and GuitarPro doesn't help me much either with the strumming Patterns.

If I could get some insight or something, that would be awesome,

Thanks

Its all about feeling the rhythm and moving towards that. Its hard to get a good feel when just learning how to strum, but once you get used to it, its so easy. Just work on keeping a steady beat with the right hand, and accentuating certain beats. Thats what really sets it apart is how you make certain beats louder and some muted.

justin, that was easily the most inspiring, helpful piece of advice anyone has ever given me in regards to my musical pursuits.
