hal leonard is good

if you dont know standard notation you gotta start out small with the basic hal leonard guitar methods till you get that, i believe its just one short book on sightreading and basic theory.

after Hal Leonard though id recommend the berklee guitar method series if you're a guitarist, or mark levine's jazz theory book. but eitherway, you should still check out the music theory lesson on this site for the beginning its got a hell load of free information

musictheory.net is also cool, and free

I recommend using the search bar.
I just searched "music theory books" and it came up with about a dozen results.
Mark Levine's Jazz theory is a brilliant book in my opinion.
