I'm a guitarist but I'm thinking of buying a cheap bass for recording etc. Im into more alternative/indy/punk/prog. My price range is preferably under $600 AUS.

I'm thinking maybe a squire jazz bass?

Thanks a lot guys

For recording if u got a mixer and stuff u can get a crappy amp and bass and after recording u can edit it through the computer and make it sound good. But i assume u dont have that so i say a fender MIM and amp wise look at some ashdown

I don't really understand why basses have 24 frets, I mean, I've never seen a bassist playing more than the 12 fret.
