Ok, Ive been wondering this for a long while since I saw Cheech and Chong's Next Movie as a kid. Then I have an older (bout early 2000s) Fender Catalog with a picture (probly from the 60s) of a guy with the same thing on his guitar.

Ok....my query is does anyone know what the deal is with partially metal freat boards (see video below to get what I mean), a metal "inlay" (or so I think) covers an entire space between frets.

If not Inlays what are they?
How is it done?
anyone know of where I can get information on them?

nope not it I know what those are lol. Its not really an inlay from what I'm guessing, but the entire piece of wood b/w frets is replaced by metal.

Watching that video they look like dot inlays...standard MOP dot inlays, the metal you see are the frets with some blur.
