Hey everyone,

I'm going to london next week with my class from school and I wanted to ask my fellow UG'ers (especially the ones in London or familiar with the city) if they got some tips about where I really should go or what guitar store I've got to visit or anything thats important to do when you're in London for a week

Thanks in advance

The National Art Gallery, even if you're not too fond of art. Walking distance to many other sites and some amazing pieces like Van Gogh, Picasso, Holbein, Michaleango and Leonard Di Vinci.

Feel free to add me and listen to more hilarious jokes such as the above.

Camden Town. It's got the biggest alternative market in the country (Alternative = Tons of rock shizzle)

The man is right.

But you'll be offered drugs more times than you can count. And a lot of fake/bootlegged/stolen stuff.
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Confused? Good.

You probably don't look like you'd want them, if you're there when shops start shutting everyman and his dog will try and sell you them.

Just make sure you check what you get before you pay.

Even then not a good idea. My friend got £70 nicked off him by someone who was supposed to give him 2 boxes of shrooms. He gave him one, distracted him, then ran off with the other.

Denmark street for guitars.

Check Camden if you just wanna piss about, get hassled by cozzers, drink (Kentish town pubs, right next to camden, serve everyone and their 2 week year old child) and **** like that.

Loads of stuff to do in central London. Just be careful not to get the tube into the wrong places, as a tourist you'll be risking it a bit.

If you're after clothes, Camden is great. If you're looking for something of a little higher quality, try the huge Topman on Oxford Circus.

Denmark Street for guitar/music shops.

Do all the rubbish touristey/sightseeing stuff if you want. However, it's all a bit bland and boring to me. Check out some of the art galleries that the city has to offer, there are LOADS. I'd reccomend the Saatchi and Tate Modern for modern art. For more classical stuff, try the National Gallery, Tate Britain, Victoria and Albert Museum. Also check out the Science Museum, some cool shit in there.

I second the tate modern thing.

If you LOVE seeing naked men oiling their penises in boxing gloves, a piano glued to the ceiling, a PLAIN ****ING WHITE CANVAS and some bricks, all of which cost a brickload (seewhatididthere?) then the tate modern is for you.

For guitars go to Denmark Str, then walk a lil while north to the downstairs place in Virgin.

Make sure you go to Camden Market! A great, real cheap place for some pretty unique stuff, and also you can get a whole foil carton full of food for a couple quid (chinease, indian, thai, japanese, malasian etc)

Go to some clubs in the evening. There's loads of small->big gigs or raves going down depending on what you like.
