I can play the licks. I got the vintage noiseless pickups installed. I got the Ernie Ball RPS 10s. I'm playing the strat through a Fender Blues Jr. Where is that Clapton sound I'm looking for?

I've been thinking maybe this fender blues Jr. Isn't the right amp for me. Can anyone recommend a good amp for a reasonable price that will make my stratocaster roar like Hendrix is holding it in summer of 69?

Yeah, I was really looking for a more versatile amp that can give me that pure 60s classic tone. The Fender Blues Jr. is KICK ASS....at what its supposed to do (a blues amp). I just want something more versatile.

I'm not sure a pedal is what I'm really looking for.

It screams a bit with "volume" all the way up, and "master" about half way. Just doesn't quite get there.

Mid Bass Treb are set to half. Volume is full and Master is halfway. Guitar is a 1993 Mexican Stratocaster with Vintage Noiseless pickups, upgraded volume resistor, and locking tuners. Ernie Ball RPS10 strings just installed yesterday.

Will do. I just tried my guitar on a buddies Vox AD30VT this afternoon. Surprisingly I wasn't as let down as I thought I'd be coming from a pure tube amp.

Edit. My amp has no drive or gain knob.

just start there and tweak the knobs till you get it.

You probably know that Cream-era Clapton used mostly Gibson humbuckers (Les Paul, SG, 335?) He didn't get "Stratified" till about 1980 (I think.)
I would get something similar to a EHX Big Muff, play on the neck pickup and turn the tone knob all the way down on the guitar for the "woman-tone." Everything after that is just the Strat and a good tube combo.
