I play bass and i practice lots of scales but i want to extend them

can some one write up how to play say, A major starting 5th frett on E and ending on 14th frett of G including fingering.

thats not what i'm asking, i want to know where to shift hand positions and what is the most economical way to play it.

Even though you asked for it to end on the G string, 14th fret, I think its worth pointing out that an even more economical way to play the same scale would be.

As for the fingerings, just play it a few times, youll find the best way for you. Trial and error :-)
