This chord progression I heard in a documentary theme on TV and I think it sounds
really bad-ass:

C(m) - Ab(m)

Can you come up with some evil/mystic sounding chord progressions? I would
appreciate it.

Hey Frets of Silk,

You can extend that progression in Major 3rds. This makes for a highly chromatic chord sequence that sounds really cool. So you can play Cm Abm Fb (E)m Cm

To make it even darker you can do the same thing in minor thirds. Cm Am F#m D#m Cm

Ascending them sounds even better than descending.

There's a song by Dethklok called Go Into the Water, one of the most sinister sounding progressions I've heard. There's tabs here in UG.

I don't get the D4.

you play a D chord with a G note added (its 4th)
it can be, for example
e-----3--------------------------------------|
B-----3------------8------------8-----------|
G-----2-----or----7-----or----7------------|
D------------------7------------7------------|
A-------------------------------5-------------|
E----------------------------------------------|
