im in the market for a new guitar. i have about $300-$400 to spend and i want one with a floyd rose on it. any reccomendations? i was looking at the rg370dx, and i know it has an edge 3 bridge but i heard that they are starting to get better in the recently made ones. any other suggestions?

Save up more money and get an "S" if you want an Ibanez with a Floyd*...

EDIT: *Floyd = tremelo

no ibanez guitars come with Floyd rose bridges anymore
they haven't since like the mid 80's

the edge 3 bridge is generally speaking not a great trem but i've heard from people who get along with it fine. each to their own i guess.

what i usually do is wait for sam ash to get an ibanez someone put a floyd on because they realized edge III's aren't very good
I can't stand watching people waste their money on horrible gear.

By Floyd I meant tremelo. It' s pretty obvious Ibanez don't use OFRs...

In that situation, one would have to prove the opposite by finding a production Ibanez with a Floyd Rose tremolo. Which doesn't exist. Before Edge was introduced in '86, Ibanez used a different (genuine design) locking tremolo called Pro Rock'r for a year, which was a locking evolution of the Hard Rocker bridge, which they used for a couple years before that (sans the locking nut).

So you want to see hundreds of pictures of guitars without FRs on them?

Beacuase none of them have them.

It'd be way easier for you to try to find one WITH an FR.

Good luck

Used RG550 or S540 may be your best bet, though I don't think you can get one quite in that price range.

you should only get an ibanez if your into metal/rock...or else a fender would be a better choice, its more versatile...and yes,i would recomend the S470.Click on my profile, and check out my early threads, lots of them are on s470

I got a GAX30 for £129 (I think about $200) and it plays like a dream!

Try to find a used MIJ Ibanez with an Edge, Lo-Pro Edge, any double-edge, or Edge Pro. Or get an S with a ZR.

Its only about £20 more over brand new so not really a score.
This is pretty good: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-RG370DX-Electric-Guitar?sku=512368

The first one is under 400. the second is over but better in my opinion, the 3rd one is dead on budget

The guitars are nice, but be warned about the tremolo. The Edge Pro III really isn't the pick of the litter when it comes to LFR bridges.

Having it setup properly will help, but even with a good setup it will still wear out much quicker than a higher quality trem.

If you're looking at Ibanez guitars in this price range, go for the S series with the ZR trem, get a hardtail or go online and find an older Japanese model with an original Edge, Lo-Pro or Edge Pro.
You've read it, you can't un-read it!
