I was wondering what would be the most suitable amp for a $600 - $700 price range.
I play mostly rock and metal but i like to play clean stuff also so it need to be pretty versatile.
currently I am thinking about getting a line 6 spider 3 120/150w combo.
I played one in a guitar shop and the metal tones are good, but there is also a large variety of cleans too.

could someone please help me out and suggest any more suitable amps or comment on the spider?
I would really appreciate it!

"What amp should I get?"
"What kind of guitar should I get?"

Behold...the Arctopus are obviously music. I don't see how anyone could say they're not music compared to many modern and post-modern composers. That being said, I think B...tA are terrible.

so ? what's wrong with those threads ? this is a forum, it's to learn and help people with not much experience.
didn't you make a thread like that when you needed gear ?
what a silly post.

I used to own a Spider, and I can tell you that it is an overpriced piece of crap. It's not much better than your Marshall MG.

Anyway, take a look at this:

It will need an overdrive pedal to get into metal territory, but at this price you'll have plenty of money left over for one. Also make sure not to buy an amp unless you can try it first.

i just recently joined a band in the last 2 weeks so the amp really needs to be loud enough to hear through a metal/rock band but also able to play alone in a room for practice.

^60 watts tube is way louder than that Spider, and sounds infinitely better. If you cranked that thing you would shatter all the windows in the building you're playing in.

PinkEdit: Well maybe not literally but you catch my drift.

you may need a pedal for metal with some of those amps though.
a used engl screamer would suit you best though imo.
