I'm not into metal, but I luff them.

It's like they play the soundtrack to my life!
They are alittle heavy for me. The growling vocals are way to much

They are pretty good for death metal

well, i guess that can be argued...

but i think their solos are actually very good. like the one in settle down just seems awesome no matter how difficult it is to play.

not too bad at all. i like them a lot. i agree there a little generic, and for some reason i dont like their vocalist too much, but the music isny bad, and they make pretty good videos, so its all good
Arbor A410 Bass
Dinosaur 20 Watt Bass Amp
Line 6 Spider III 75 Watt
Squier Bullet

Excuse me sir, have you been thinking tonight?

I don't dislike them, but they are a bit generic. I bought there old cd, is their new one better? I'm honestly surprised to see that they aren't super super mainstream. They seem like just the kind of music teen girls would like.

They sound like every other new pop punk band that has came out in the past year or so.

I adore Cartel's last album, but the new one can be summed up in one succinct word: "meh"

Chroma is one of my favorite albums, ever. The new album, whatever the hell it's called (I can't be bothered to go find it) is one of my least favorite. I bought it, not having heard any of it (crappy dial up and win98...), and popped it into my cd player. I pressed play expecting a sharp, catchy, distorted riff to come shreiking out of my speakers...and nothing. I turn up the volume, and he's just softly singing some crap, you can't even hear the guitars...I immediately threw the cd under my bed, where it lay untouched until today.

Sorry, just had to get that off my back...Phew, that's a load off. Lol at the metal jokes.

haha, name? its self-titled.

and are you saying you didn't even get past the first song? lame....

go look up Black Paper Diary, some of the members were in a hardcore band before Cartel. They are from my hometown. They are most def amazing live. Bland is not the word I would use for them, more like passionate real music. They have been together since 2003 and have progressed every album. Joe (lead guitarist) is actually pretty ****ing good. They are just into writing straight forward simple music with a twist.
#30
Since that last post, I've listened to that album (self-titled) again, and I've gotten to like it, or at least enjoy some songs on it...the new album is amazing.

And I'm leaving in....10 MINUTES to go see them. word.

I just assumed that Cycles (correct title I hope?) would suck.

anyone have a differing opinion?

I actually like the new album. For me, Chroma > Cycles > Self-titled

At any rate I love Cartel.
#35
dude, I listened to the new songs that are up on their UG Profile and they're actually pretty sweet. I would agree that chroma can't be beat but these are definitely a huge step in the right direction.

self-titled sucked hardcore. :/

Cycles is amazing, particularly "Deep South" and "27 Steps" which were both awesome live, too. In fact, all the new songs killed live, and they barely played anything off of the self titled, just "This is Who We Are" and a bit of "Lose It" slipped into the middle of "A."

From my room I heard Let's Go playing on a Thanksgiving football game commercial

I immediately ran into the other room in excitement, just to watch the remainder of the commercial
#39
now, I personally can't stand let's go.

or at least I had a terrible first impression of it. I haven't listened to it since. that is the reason I had such low hopes for this album.
