the ultra has a contoured body, and chambers inside it, to make it lighter
i guess this means the tone will be a bit lighter aswell, and i guess less les paul-ey

i'd say the standard, but play them both as the ultra has a thinner neck that you might like

I'd get the Ultra. Looks better, lighter, has proper wood combos unlike the Standard unless you get a -BRAND- new Standard.

Unnecessary adjectives are fun.
Go with whatever one sounds better to you. The Ultra is chambered, you might not like that.

I like the Ultra, and think it sounds and looks better, but its as bad as G-400 when it comes to head dive due to the chambering, so consider that.
