This is an idea to build a list or an archive of the most technical licks ever, just to challenge UGers and help stucked players.
The licks can include every technique you can find:

Legato
Tapping
Arpeggios
Tremolo picking
Hyper (very fast alternate) picking
String skipping

Also every other crazy techniques like:

Two handed Tapping
Two handed Legato
Playing with tour left hand over the fretboard
Legato Arpeggios

Every ultra technical lick you can find.

As soon as I find the most technical licks I can find, I'll post them too.

THANKS.

nearly any bumblefoot solo,,almost any of them

The string skipping legato at the end of Hands is a bitch and a half, same with that 6 string sweep in the interlude of Guitars Suck that he does on his fretless.

You must never double the leading tone ever. Failure to comply will result in a fugue related death.

I doubt it can be much harder than that

This is the technical licks thread, not the technical Guitar Hero button mashing thread. Dragonforce aren't anything special anyways.

As far as alternate picking goes, I doubt anyone of you could do this...

Jason Becker's cover of Pagnini's fifth Caprice in A Minor.

As for sweeping, again the man Jason Becker in Serrana.

Becker's paganini cover is so insane (if only it didn't sound so awful ). That last 30 seconds or so is probably the fastest playing I've ever seen.

Here's a riff that will challenge your ability to keep time. Check out Vai's Freak Show Excess. It's a 7min wonder. But before the break down there is a very interesting 17/16 time signature riff. Keeping in mind timing and phrasing are as important as technical prowess have a look at that one. Check for the vai video on good ole youtube.com
#22
I feel like I've cheated so here's a nice technically good Vai lick. Building The Church - double handed left hand over the neck tapping intro and solo. Like everything Vai looks harder than it is, but the solo requires a little more effort.

John Petrucci - Glasgow Kiss, very simple sound but the alternate picking for the main verses takes a lot of work to build up speed, I mean come on its Petrucci!

The thing that makes Tumeni Notes hard is that it's all alternate picking. No economy or sweep picking at all. If you don't alt pick it, then Morse will personally leap out of your fretboard, skull**** you, and leave you to die as you bleed from the gaping hole which formerly housed your eye.

Stuff by SiKTh can get pretty hectic. Way Beyond The Fond Old River starts off with a bar of 19/16 then 7/8 alternating. Summer Rain by the same band has pretty much any advanced technique you can think of, sweep picking, legato, tapping, fast alternate picking, string skipping. They're not everyone's cup of tea, but the two guitar players are amazingly talented.

Anything by Rusty Cooley ...

plz.. the guy may be a technical god, but musically he's got a LONG way to go. Now Don't get me wrong, I'm a nooby shred-head, but He definatly doesn't know how to get melody and harmony working right... it's just arps over and over and over really... no variance, and no hooks.

Now, if you want brilliant shredding, check out Paul Gilbert or say, Django Reinhardt.

Reinhardt's "Minor Swing" is GREAT shredding! And he only had Two fingers to shred with, so take that into account when checking that piece out .

oi... I turned this post into a totally fuctarded thing... I appologuise. I just see stuff like that and get all pissed, lol... I got a lot of growing to do still it seems.

..... the reach of his hands is just amazing.. are those 32 notes? or 16th. I was trying to play the tech dif solo, and i was reading the tab and i could not even read the notes fast enough to keep up with his playing. He is god.

check out the sweeps in this godless endeavor that warrel sings over, they change from sixtuplets to quintuplets...not amazingly complex, but its not something thats basic, considering its at fast speeds
