I've been playing guitar for over 3 years now and I'm considering taking bass lessons. I already have a Crate guitar amp and I don't want to have to buy a whole new amp if I could just use my guitar amp. so my first question is, Is It ok to play a bass on a guitar amp. I now that there is amps made specifically for basses but I don't see why you couldn't just use a guitar amp.

My second question is do you guys know any good Shecter basses that are between $300-$450, I've looked online and in this Guitar Center catalougue i got but everytime I see one it's like $600.

As long as you keep the volume really low, it will only sound like crap. Turn it up too high, and it will sound even crappier...THEN blow the speakers out. Just get a bass amp.

Guitar amps are not designed to handle the frequencies that bass guitars put out. It'll end up ruining your amp, AND sound like crap.

Only Schecter basses I've had experience with are Stiletto's, and they're all pretty solid. Their lowest end Stiletto's start at around $350 USD.
And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me: no, nor woman neither... nor women neither.

1. Get a bass amp.
2. I would advise not getting a low end Schecter simply because the higher end ones are so much better. Look at maybe a used MIM fender or a VM squier. That will save you money.
3. Don't get a thundebird.
