Okay, here's the story...
My sister is the president of some club... i dunno wtf it is, really.
Well, in March they're gonna be hosting a parent appreciation night...
And my sister needs "entertainment".
Well, I decided to volunteer my band to go play at the dinner.
However, we're kinda having issues on choosing what songs to play.
We all know that parents are kinda "meh" on some songs, and we want something that'll have them going "yay!", yknow?
...
...
...
So what songs does The Pit recommend?
We were thinking something along the lines of the Ramones, but...
Some songs dont exactly have what you can call "appropriate" language.
Ex. Hey ho, lets go, shoot em in the back now.
Yeah, shooting isnt really popular in schools right now.
So... I need some song ideas, and if they contain somewhat inappropriate language, ways to change them so they remain cool, and not get all... corrupted
Thanks guys.

How about poplar songs from the eras they were growing up? I'd guess the median age would be forty, so try songs from the seventies and eighties.
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.

Before I have begun to live.

I agree with DinkyDaisy on popular 70's rock, such as Foreigner, 10cc, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Queen, etc.

Aah... so much old music!
oh well, yeah. Thanks for the suggestions.
Anything from this time period anyone can think of?
Like, now?
Yeah, the Beatles sounds good. Rolling Stones too.
What about something punk-ish?
It makes me happy

It's kind of obvious that the Beatles are going to be your best choice. To be honest, you might just wanna skip the punk for that night. If you must, then go with the Clash.

You have to remember that while something may not really be your favourite thing to play, the audience you're playing for might love it. I'd really recommend sticking to the old hits that everyone knows and dances and sings along to.

clash kicks ass, pipebomb on landsdown may work (you may get away with the dkm version even) or of course there is death or glory (the social distiortion cover is epic as well)

Play old stuff. Just look up one of the 'greatest driving/power ballad/dads album ever' on Amazon, and pick stuff off its track list, and cover those.
Like some Bachman-Turner Overdrive or soemthing.
However, I think it's be really funny if you played all Manowar songs. Then you'd rule. Honest.
#26
Yeah, you can't always play stuff you like. Do you have any idea how sick Lynyrd Skynyrd must be of playing Free Bird every single night? But they do cause it keeps the crowd happy
