ok...my electric guitar...its got crappy intonation on first string...and its SO ANNoying!!!!

OK when i tune the 1st (high E) string perfectly in tune with the 5th fret of the 2nd string, and then i play at the higher end of the 1st string, like starting at 12th fret...its flat....so tried to tune the high E string HIGHER, but then it would sound sharp if i played at the lower frets....now...i know that it could probably get fixed if i loosened the screw at the end of the saddle....but...its already so loose...that if I loosen it more, it might pop out completely...then I'd be screwed...So I just want to know, how far I should be loosening this screw, so that its at a safe distance and not at risk to pop out..

saddle --- E string ]<- The screw right here...liek behind the saddle...
B string ]
G string ]
D string ]

i jut dont know how far Im able to loosen the above screw..without ir being at risk of popping out...

plz no suggesting seeing a professional or getting it fixed by some specialist...im too cheap ..lo lthanks

is it a TOM or strat style bridge?

i just re read ur post, if it's flat u'll want to bring the saddle closer anyway.
so it's not a problem.

did i read that right?

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.

use this intonation guide:

One string at a time, play the harmonic at the 12th fret and then play the fretted 12th fret note.
If the fretted note is sharper than the harmonic, increase the string length slightly until both notes register the same on your tuner.
If the fretted note is flat compared to the harmonic shorten the string length slightly until both notes register the same on your tuner.

screw #2.

if you cant match up the harmonic and the fretted note, then compare the open note to the fretted note.

i forget what you original post said, but maybe you're moving that one the wrong way.

make sure you retune the open string in between each adjustment.

ok i pictured you were saying that the saddle needed to be moved the other way.

you can look into the saddle make sure the screw isnt threading out of the saddle

or you can buy a longer screw.

ok define/describe thread out of the saddle...right now when i look INTO the saddle...all i see is a tiny ilttle stump of the screwabout 1/2 mm long...and the rest is either at oustside, or inside the metal part ...how far can i still screw it...would it be ok if i loosened it until i cant see it anymore inside the saddle, but its hiddne inside the metal part of the saddle

then dont loosen it. either buy a longer screw at the hardware store, or a new set of saddles.
