no it's to protect the body of the guitar.
i like the standard pickguard best.
the other ones kinda suck to be honest, no offense.

+1 on fender guitars and basses it covers all the electronics doesnt it? cause there is no way to get to the pickups and pots from the back of the guitar.

yes the electrionics are coverd by the picguard which is why i was only cutting it far enough so theyre still hidden but the pickups are screwd directly to the body

as long as it covers up the output and the pots it will work and i remember just asking what people liked better not if it would work.

wow. Were trying to help you out by telling you not to do it. My point is it would look worse than it already does if you cut up the pickguard. Like Ippon suggested maybe you should consider painting it if you think that it looks too boring.

if it looks bad i can always buy another theyre cheap at the local music store and it doesnt bother me if i have to buy another. cuz at least i tried.
