Inspired by Scourge's report on the gay peacock article, I have made this thread for all such useless and/or amusing news.

Collins cites ailment and offers apology

An embarrassed Timaru District Council candidate has apologised for urinating in a Dunedin gutter and says a bladder condition added to her predicament.
Karen Collings was caught without access to a toilet when out with friends in Dunedin late last month. She will appear in court in Dunedin today.
"I apologise to the public of New Zealand, and again to the Dunedin police if they feel my behaviour was inappropriate. This has been very embarrassing for me and my family."
Ms Collings was wearing a long coat and said none of her body was exposed. Using the gutter was better than soiling herself – or going in a shop front as a police woman suggested.
Early in the morning a friend was denied access to the casino because he was intoxicated, so they refused entry to Ms Collings to use the toilet.
"I'm embarrassed to have to tell people now that I have a serious bladder problem and have since I was four years old and I really had no option but to do what I did to avoid wetting myself."
Ms Collings said the incident had resulted in six cold hours at the police station.
Despite the adverse publicity she hoped to be still in with a chance as a candidate.
"No matter who people vote for I hope they do exercise their right to vote."
She said Crohn's disease was something she lived with.
"At the end of the day, when I have to go I have to go.
"During my visit to Fiji last week I went to a village called Rakiraki where I received treatment from their elderly medicine woman for my condition. This, with prayer, will hopefully make my life-long condition better."
Friends, applaud the comedy is over.

Poor woman. I'd piss in the gutter if I had to too.
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.
Calm, calm me more; nor let me die
Before I have begun to live.

Arguments are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing.

In Metro earlier sometime last month:

Two gays were at it in a public place and got caught by 4 on duty fireman. 1 had a written warning, 1 had a demotion and the other two were fined 1000 quid each, which was then donated to a gay rights charity.

Pisses me off! They didn't do anything but accidently looked and those gays were the ones breaking the law in the first place.

Wait, so did the firemen get the reprimands for being away from duty or what?

That area where they looked was reported, they looked and found them.

EDIT: I saw it in the metro, I'll skim for links.
