never tried one, but have only heard good things, make sure you try whatever guitar you want to buy beforehand though, because different people like different guitars for different styles

400 series is decent, i think it comes with the emg 81 + 85? if so that should cover you for anything really, depending on your amp.. which is?

The guitar is meant for heavier styles of music, So I am pretty sure it would do good for hard rock.
