Imagine an original Floyd Rose with Diamond knife edges...those mother****ers would NEVER give in....but of course, the $1500 price tag would drive everyone away...ugh...one can only dream.

The original Edge blows the OFR out of the water. After using an Edge trem the OFR feels like a cheap toy.

OFR, with the Edge being a close second. My only issue with the Edge is the ones I've played can feel too touchy. The ZR feels more like a Kahler Killer/Spider (I beleive those were there OFR "Style" units) or something then a Floyd imo, plus its materials aren't up to par.

I would think an honest original Floyd.

Because any licensed Floyd is going to be a little different and made of cheaper materials.

not true. a lot of licensed floyds use the inferior materials of which you speak, but a bunch (schaller, gotoh, ibanez edge etc.) use as good quality materials as the OFR.

As to the original question, it's probably preference once you hit a certain quality.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Could they not make cost effective systems using industrial diamond? The crap they use on drills and stuff. That stuffs pretty cheap for what it is

I hear that industrial diamond is more expensive than natural diamond because of the conditions needed to create it

surely if the knife edges were harder, the posts that they rest on would wear out resulting in the same thing as the knife edges wearing out.

I personally would say the ZR trem but I haven't played many other trems extensively enough to have a valid opinion. The design of the ZR means that, even with lower quality materials, the trem will last for ages.
