Hey guys, i was just wondering if any of you knew any open soundingish chords, like the add9 chords (i already know those). Or custom variations you've made up, whatever cool for you, thanks!

i made sum up in a weird tuning (low to high-cgdggd) use the open strings as a drone whilst fretting any of these notes on the high d-0,2,4,5,7,9,10,12etc or any of those notes one most strings, but it waorks the best on the D- good luck

As far as pure beauty of a chord sound goes, I love these 3:

e| 0
B| 5
G| 6
D| 7
A| X
E| X

Then play this one:

e| 5
B| 0
G| 6
D| 7
A| X
E| X

Then follow up with this one:

e| 7
B| 0
G| 6
D| 7
A| X
E| X

If you play those 3 chords, one right after another, a 6 string guitar will sound a lot like a 12 string. Standard tuning btw. Anyone know the names of these?

All add9 chords are inherently beautiful.

Cadd9 is an easy one

My favourite would be x79897 followed up by x32033. Really, really airy. The former is some sort of maj7 chord and I think the other is Cadd9.
Are you reelin' in the years?

E|0 this chord has quite a beautiful airy sound i find. its also great when you play the
B|0 chord the same but go down a semitone on the D string each time you play the
G|5 chord so you get a sort of decending bassline.
D|7
A|x
E|x

e|0 this sounds great when played before a chord like Am, i think this chord is called
B|6 Dm9/A? not sure
G|5
D|0
A|0
E|x

Leftydave, your chords are:

xx7650: A
xx7605: Aadd9(no5) or a rootless F#madd11
xx7607: This is just an alternate voicing of the above chord.

My favourite would be x79897 followed up by x32033. Really, really airy. The former is some sort of maj7 chord and I think the other is Cadd9.

x79897 is an Emaj7.

B|6 Dm9/A? not sure
G|5
D|0
A|0
E|x

Correct. Dm9/A or Fmaj13/A would be acceptable names for this chord.
