I'm looking into a new guitar. I got an Ibanez GAX70 with a body Duncan-Performer and a neck stock humbucker, and I've had the guitar for three years. It was my first, by the way. I play mostly metal, like Opeth, Children of Bodom, Mastodon (to an extent, all those power chords get kinda boring), etc. I want something with a powerful tone, I play in E-standard and Drop-D exclusively, don't want to get the heavier gauge strings for the safety of my neck. Under $400.00 dollars, if possible. Thankee.

Check the Micheal Kelly Patriot, maybe some Agile LP's. Ibanez ARX and ARC.

+1.

MK Patriots are spectacular guitars for the price.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.
