No there is no practical WAY to make headphones act like a microphone. Microphones capture sound - headphones produce sound. Reverse actions. Now granted with extreme modding I am sure most anything is possible, but A. it will sound like crap, and B. it will be cheaper/easier to just buy an actual MIC.

but you CAN use headphones as a microphone

if you've looked inside a microphone, and looked inside a headphone
they are generally the same thing.

I can't exactly explain how it works (because I don't know how)
but it does.

plug headphones into your mic slot (not those little things you get with an ipod)
then talk REALLY loud while you are recording
I have to like eat my headphones for it to work (well not literally.)
the sound quality is muffled, but they aren't a mic so deal with it heh.

Fine fixed. Please note though that I said there is no PRACTICAL way of doing it and did not think I needed to explain.

...as everyone said, its just much easier to buy a mic...even a cheap mic would work better.

get yourself a on stage stands $20 mic pack from musicians friend and a small Behringer UB502 mixer....feed the Tape out into your line in on your computers sound card (usually light blue)

that lets you plug in an XLR mic and gives you a preamp to work with.
