thanks man I appreciate it! Is there anywhere lower on the neck you could play it though?

You can play it anywhere, same as any scale. Just find an E and apply the pattern there...if you don't know how to do that then you need to learn the notes on the fretboard first, you can't learn scales without them.

Then again, I always thought it was

E9--10--12
B--10---12
G 9--11--12

I despairz...

The E minor scale is

E F# G A B C D

where you choose to play those notes on the guitar is entirely up to you.

I think he's asking for the "box" not the notes.

The "box" is pointless - they're there as examples of where to play parts of a scale, unfortunately people learn them without learning anything else. He wants the scale, I gave him the scale....where you put your fingers is the least important aspect of it.

That first post is the blues scale by the way.

I was looking for the scale, not the pentatonic scale. I'm not really much of a blues player anyway.....but thanks for the help

This site should give you about any scale you want. When you want a minor scale look under "Aeolian" or "Natural Minor" (they're the same thing)
