Preamp:
The first stage in your amplifier. This is where your "tone shaping" happens. The signal doesn't become a lot stronger, but this is where you dial in your treble, middle, bass and gain settings.

Power amp:
In this stage, the signal is amplified until it is powerful enough to drive the speakers. The signal then goes to the speakers and comes out in the form of "Stairway to Heaven".

so both the preamp and poweramp are both inside the amp? i always though preamp= distortion pedals or something but im stupid lol

Not meaning to jack the thread or anything, but is it possible to skip the poweramp and directly connect the preamp to a cabinet?
