The whole point of punk is to be sh!t easy. But if you want the bare basics, the Ramones I guess.

Mastering your instrument is being able to play whatever you hear in your head, unhindered by inadequate technique. After that, it's all about what you've got to say, so there would be no "best," just a bunch of people saying exactly what they mean.

Astro Zombies by The Misfits
Anything pre-Warning Green Day is easy.
A-K-A I-D-I-O-T by the Hives is a good song.
Go With The Flow by Queens of the Stone Age isnt exactly a punk song, but its easy. The leads arent too hard.

everyone except threadtstarter, juan and scott need their heads kicked in.

Anyways, have a look at the dead kennedys (fresh fruit album), it's basically simple rock, but east bay ray plays lead and rhythm guitar at the same time, so there's loads of little bits to learn.

I'd also suggest "Who are the mystery girls" by the New York Dolls. It's E, A and B with a b7 extension (the kind of chords that status quo use)

The lead guitar is quite attemptable too.

The thing about The Ramones is that their songs may be **** easy, but it takes some stamina to play them properly (all downstrokes, all the time, non-stop).

Compared to other forms of music which often neccessitate similar stamina but use a wide variety of techniques, it's still not much.

Yes, I am a metalhead.

I know, I'm quite big on the met'l myself. Most stuff pales, stamina-wise, when compared to late eighties/early nineties thrash and speed metal.
