My brother has owned an epiphone dot for years but the stock pickups aren't all that great. What pickups would compliment a dot?

^Nah, Gibson pups are overpriced.

Where in the world are you? What budget do you have? What types of sounds do you want?

If you've got the money and you're enthusiastic about spending something on it, I think the Gibson '57 Classics would be the best for it, or perhaps the 490R and 498T, because they sound terrific on SG's

Also what kind of amp is it going through?

+1 on jibbing Gibson pickups btw, nothing wrong with them if they come stock but way to overpriced as upgrades.

Exactly, they're nice as stock pickups, but for the money you can get better if your upgrading.

Also, like Steven asked, what amp do you use, because upgrading the pickups whilst using a mediocre amp is going to mean that the upgrade isn't going to make as much as a difference you might hope for.

It will be going through a Marshall JCM 600. Something versatile would be nice, not really metal, but can cover jazz, blues, classic rock, and rock. Something with a nice smooth tone

A pair of Duncan Pearly Gates would be nice, will balance nicely with the warmth of the hollow body.

^yea. but with a semi hollow, a seymour duncan '59 model might work better controlling feedback.

The Pearly Gates should still be fine, they aren't that much hotter than a 59, just a little more raucous sounding and they're still potted.
