it doesnt say exactly how to change them. it says what do to after you change them and what strings to use, but not how

I see. Well the strings go through the bridge (from the back of the guitar). Firstly make the old strings slack (so they dont ping in your eye!) then cut them and take them off. Then, basically push the new string through the bridge from the back of the guitar (there should be a slot in the rear pickguard so these can be accessed). Then wind around the tuning peg, trim off the excess and then tune.

put it through the hole in the peg after you've wrapped it round

I do it first, sorry I forgot to mention that bit! Basically have a slack of a couple of inches past the tuning peg and then wind it round (this is so hard to explain well but it really is simple!)
