Yeah, remember that one guy recently who wanted the "Live at Pompeii" fuzz sound from the preformance of "Echoes"? Yeah, I'm wanting that as well after seeing the preformance on YouTube.

But, I'm kinda confused over the whole "fuzz" thing. What makes a fuzz pedal different than, say, your average distortion pedal? There's obviously a difference in sound, but.........this is difficult to word correctly, uh.....damn.....

Well, uh, anybody get what I mean by this?

And, uh, what's good inexpensive fuzz pedal? Just to see how I like the effect.
#4
I think fuzz is more like a motor noise and with more trebble.

I dont know if you understand............. It's hard to explain sound

I heard the BYOC clone is pretty good and it doesn't seem to expensive.

As for the difference...erm....fuzz has a more rough fizzy sound, while distortion is more smooth and lead like. Try looking up some clips on youtube of a fuzz pedal and a distortion pedal.

^Jimmy Page's pedal he used early in his career. said that he used it in how many more times. but i think he used for more than that. its a really nice pedal.

Yeah its a fuzz pedal, Page used for most of I. How Many More Times is one the best examples of it IMO.
#14
Oh yeah I think i've heard of that, I think Fulltone make a pedal called the soul bender that's based on it.

Do you guys have actual Tonebender pedals? Sounds like something I should look into.

Oh cool just found it on BYOC, I know I want a fuzz with hopefully my future tube amp.

It's likely to be this or the ultimate fuzz, ahhh too hard to choose.

Edit: ^ Pics of that would look cool on your profile.

it's called the two knob bender on BYOC btw. ultimate fuzz is kind of a fuzz face.

Yeah I found both, not sure which one to go for though, seeing as how I was inluenced most by Gilmour and Page, both of who were known for using the colorsound and fuzz faze.
I think i'd like the MK2 Fuzz Kit, seems like the fuzz tone i'd want.

^Wow that's great, I could get both of those with an analog chorus and maybe get a wah...would be set for pedals. I don't see why i'd need much else...

Though I don't have the budget for so many

.......I'd usually get annoyed over my thread getting hijacked, but this is some cool stuff......so then, that sort of "fuzzy" tone on parts of Led Zeppelin I, huh. That'd be a nice tone to have....

whole lotta led says how many more times, but i think mine sounds more like "Heartbreaker", or "Moby Dick", or the overdriven part of "Bring it on Home". its also able to sound like a cranked marshall tone (page's live stuff) out of a strat bridge pickup.

Mine definitely sounds more like How Many More Times and You Shook Me. I get closer to the Heartbreaker and Moby Dick tones with my amp cranked, although it does sound awesome with the MKII.
#29
^valve junior right?

mine does sound like how many more times or you shook me if i turn up my guitar volume. but when i turn it down (i like it more) it doesn't lose any volume, but it gets a grittier heartbreaker/moby dick tone. i think it's really cool.

^Yeah, modified too.

It does seem to have a cranked Marshall vibe to it like you said, I can get quite close to the live tone of Bring it on Home, besides the clean bluesy part.
#31
^YES! bring it on home tone is what i told my friend too. bridge pickup, volume at like 5. fuzz half way. i get it from my strat.

^have u replaced ur output transformer on ur VJ yet?
i'm kinda looking at transformers atm.
EL84 tubes have impedance of 5k, and the trans has 7.5k impedance or something.

i've found out that Blues Jr output transformers have 6.95k impedance with EL84s too.

i have a big muff, and i dont think it is a true fuzz, not nearly as fuzzy as fuzz face, but not just a distortion pedal either, and i have no clue how he got that tone, its my favorite tone i have ever heard, only gilmour can make music like that,
#39
^The new reissue Big Muffs probably aren't the best for that Gilmour stuff.

The BYOC pedal kits have a fuzz face clone, and you can probably get one of these which should get closer to the real muff tone of Gilmours.
http://www.buildyourownclone.com/largebeaver.html

www.gilmourish.com has a lot of information if you want to know more about his sound and how to get it.
