I've been interested in the Dean Vendetta XM for a few weeks now. It's got a natural sort of finish and incredibly light compared to the all electrics I've seen around (it's lighter than my electro-acoustic Epiphone, actually). Sounds decent as well, but before I bought, I wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on this particular guitar. It's going to be my first electric.

its nice. just change the pickups later on, but its good for what ive heard. and its better whitout a whammy bar cuz you will be more worried on technique than on a bar

a guitar this light isnt necessarily a good thing. my roommate bought one of these last year. HORRIBLE. had to spend $70 getting the frets redone. should have just returned it. arrived with a ton of chips and scratches in the body, which was probably plastic. imo, you'd be much better with any of the following guitars in your price range:

He could've just returned it for another one...

I've played a few and they've been pretty decent for the price.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

it'd still have a plastic body.

and the neck feels a bit like a toothpick, no?

I'm not saying I'd buy it... but I don't think it's as horrible as people make it out to be

i wouldnt say it's horrible.

for being the cheapest guitar on MF, its not that bad i guess. but if one were to spend $50 more, they can get something decent.
