what is your best way to haggle a price down? what do you usually say to the sales person to bring down the price of gear you want? cuz im not usually one to haggle but for some stuff im getting i want to bring down the price. so what do you usually say?
#2
^if the thing im buying was $15, i'd go in with $13, and i'd say "crap. i only got $13!!!" they usually give it to me. same with amps. i bring in $600 for a $550 amp, the tax would go over 600. but i only have 600, so i go "crap. i only got $600!!!" they give that to me most of the time too.

ask questions that say "can you compete"

almost always, the price is up much higher than they will sell for, so you can say something like "i can buy this guitar online for 2/3 of the price you're offering. can you match that?"

and then see what they can do.

#5
I think it is best to go buy stuff at the end of the quarter because they will give you sick deals then. If not just try and talk them down like business like.

which would be paying like 660ish?

it might be possible for 675 with my way.

with instagata0's method, u can probably go under 600 with tax easily if u do it right. but the guy could go "that's bull**** dawg. i can't do that for u bro."

for instagatas method, what if the guy wants to know the website where i can get it for 2/3rds the price lol
#15
Remember, they WANT to sell it. If they think you aren't buying it, they will lower the price. Don't be afraid to walk out, or tell them "Well, I don't like this about it."
#17
Wow, tax is a bitch. I live in Oregon... NO SALES TAX!!!! And no, things aren't more expensive... we just can't pump our own gas.

But on topic: I've never even thought of dealing with them. I've probably been screwed out of a lot of money.

So basically, you didnt bang a girl, because she was shocked how small it was.

well the deal is it may already be priced as low as they can price it,,if it is something they are really trying to get out of the store, which means you may not be able to get them to come down.if that is the case you can usually get them to throw in extra stuff so try that if they say they cant go lower.
#19
if its cheap-normal priced (like 500and below) they are hardly likely to haggle it

if its fine priced (like 600-900) they might haggle, or they'll throw in stuff.

if its high priced (like 1k-2.5k) it's highly likely they'll haggle

if its grand priced (3k+) they better haggle or they're losing alot of money.

a side note:

they don't mind selling you something right off if you're only like some change off, or a couple bucks off.

when i have a job, im gonna save up ALOT of money after I buy a car, and walk in and
get like 10k worth of stuff for like 7-8k =]

Haggling is easy as hell, give them some stupid low price, then increase it to like half. Always go for the youngest and most timid looking employee.

6 man team - kevlar vests, balaclavas, Kalashnikovs, MAC-10's and M9's plus a big sack with a crudely draw dollar sign on it.

3 men go the main entrance, 3 go the back way. 1 man on each entrance watching for heat, 2 keep the civilians on the floor stealing the odd wallet. Of the other two, one keeps the staff covered making sure no silent alarms are activated while the other loads the sack with 'dosh' from the tills.

Then, you and your team take any amps/guitars/accessories as you leave being sure to keep 1-2 people covering the civilians and staff.

Return to van waiting outside with engine already running and speed off into the sunset knowing you've just made the world a tiny bit crapper for everyone except you and your chums.

1-2 weeks later have SWAT team kick your door in while you're playing on your new guitars, get tasered, t-bagged and thrown in jail for the rest of your life.

Or you could just give them BJ's, w/e you want.

I duno... I got a bike that would have been like 1,150$, for 1,000$ -> which is the retail, so pretty much it was like tax didn't exist... To me anyways... We kept just saying how we were looking at other stores, other options, and we saw alot more options than this bike, we asked what the best price he could give me on it was and he lowered it a bit, then just before i bought it i asked again "is this the absolute lowest you could offer me for this?" and he took even more off.... lol

I usually go into guitar center and I have a gift certificate or I get some benefit because I placed a warranty on that wack amp I bought for my bass or there's always a sale when I have to go. I guess I'm that lucky (except for the amp).

Dammit, I was about to say that. Make friends with the most hated (by guitar store employees) guitar tech in town. Tell the salesman you know him and that he told you a guitar with a scratch should cost much less than what it is priced for.
