I've got a final triplet of guitars, with my budget around $1k or less.

Strat - Modded to HSH, I like the neck on strats, and the shape and size.

Explorer - Good size, cool shape, nice stock pickups.

Ibanez RG Prestige - Handmade, nice neck.

All will cost me around the same, but I cant really decide on one. I plan on playing them before buying, but what do you guys think is the best idea? I play a lot of hard rock and some metal, with occasional classic rock. I need to be able to get a nice chug something like Alice in Chains.

Yeah my S gets a nice chug, I guess it's because it's Mahogany.

I like all three options
#5
I love RG's, they have (in MY opinion) the most comfortable necks. But Explorers kick anus too.

its hard to decide out of those 3... good luck

I once saw somebody carry a Guitar Hero controller in a case to protect it. He probably should have packed his testicles in there too, seeing as he won't need to use those for quite a while.

That sucks that they dont make the sunburst one anymore...

Are Explorers really big? Im a big dude and I was hoping for a somewhat larger guitar especially after buying an S.

I might end up going the cheap route and buying a Fat Strat for $400 and maybe throwing in a new bridge bucker. I should be set then.

Ibanez Necks destroy all.

lol how? they're so uncomfortable... fretboard is so wide, fretboard radius is so flat, but the neck is so thin...

I love strat necks, medium jumbo (perfect) frets, not too thin nor too thick. Very nice smooth necks.

Maybe that's why I like it so much. I hate strat necks, which you obviously love, and I like Tele necks.

I think I can see you talking yourself into it.

I haven't played an Ibanez or an Explorer before so can't really comment, but it's clear to see you're leaning towards the strat.

Iron Maiden prove that it can be versatile, and play heavier music.

I'm thinking of buying myself a USA or maybe Mexican strat and throwing some PAF Pro's in the bridge and something else in the neck. With a flloyd rose too.

By the way what amp do you have?
ENGL Fireball
Framus 2x12
Ibanez RG1570 - DM Breeds
Epi Les Paul - Warthog Pup
MXR 10 Band EQ
