im looking for some easy death metal songs (death, morbid angel, obituary, etc.) to play... ive been playing 1 1/2 years.... umm something with no solo, cuz i cant shred at all.... oh btw do most death metal bands solo out of key? or are they in key and just shred really exotic scales?

Entombment of A Machine by Job For a Cowboy
I guess its sort of deathcore, but its still fun to play. No solo.

death metal does what ever death metal wants...have you ever heard of a little scale called harmonic minor...also known as metals ***** scale?

What a huge coincidence. I have a butthole also.

Diminished scale is good too.

Easy songs would be:

Akercocke:
Verdelet
Lex Talionis
Intractable
Words that go unspoken deeds that go undone
Seraphs and Silence
The Serpent
The Penance
Eyes of the dawn
Horns of Baphomet

Amon Amarth is pretty easy for the most part.

Some Cannible Corpse songs.

Deicide, there's a few easy ones there... Arch enemy is pretty easy, mainly the rhythm.

Try some At The Gates and In Flames. Backbone, by Gojira, isn't too hard either.

+1 for Entombment of a Machine (JFAC) and Amon Amarth

old school Cannibal Corpse is fairly easy. i.e. The Bleeding album.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

To TS, don't bother attempting later CC because they're guitar work got VERY difficult of late. Just look at songs like Murder Worship, Frantic Disembowelment or Make Them Suffer to see how hard it got.
Gear:
Jackson Pro Series DK2 Dinky (Eerie Dess Swirl)
Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos (Chameleon Red) =D

Crate FXT65 amp with 3-way foot switch
Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah Pedal

crystal mountains probly a bit harder haha
but i'd really reccommend you attempt some of the stuff off symbolic great album
And maybe it's time you start learning some easier solo's
so when you go to learn more death metal songs you can go back and the solo's will be that much easier to learn

harmonic minor

^ Favorite scale =)

Anyway, I find In Flames to be really easy. But why EASY? 1 1/2 years, you should be challenging yourself more. Maybe start learning to solo. It's fun once you get the hang of all the techniques.
Heads will roll. Throats will be slit. Blood will flow like springs of water.

Too bad that's not DEATH metal.

You could also learn more melodic things like Norther, Kalmah, and Wintersun.

The rythym takes a bit to get down, but not really difficult, I had that song down in an hour or so.

Isn't easy death metal an oxymoron?

But if we're counting Lamb Of God (which we really shouldn't), I suggest Redneck. It's a fun riff and once you've got the notes down it becomes second nature.

If we're suggesting ACTUAL death metal (btw I like Lamb Of God, but they ain't death), try some Opeth. Some of the riffs are easy-ish, but the solos are quite hard. Make sure you make the decision to play their stuff for a while though, their tuning may f*ck up your guitar for a while.
