I wouldn't go so far as to say it's impossible for them to overheat, but apparently the new chipset runs at a cooler temperature, so the RROD shouldn't be as prominent as it has been in the past.

Make sure they new system has a 65nm chipset, though.

It took them far too long to introduce a solution to the overheating problem that has been apparent since launch.

i am on my 3rd 360, luckily i have one with a 65nm chipset in it now, works fine for all my halo 3 all nighters

Yea, what Smokey said. They've upgraded the cooling system on the new chipset, so overheating is much less of an issue.

I just got one, its pre owned and i have a years warrenty. As far as i know they don't explode anymore and they are definitly worth it, get Halo 3 and Gears of war!

I thought they weren't supposed to come out till the end of this year? How is it? Is it a lot quieter?
