I have been out and about looking at getting my first bass guitar and amp (thinking of switching from guitar - sems easier to get gigs as a bass player)

I think I have finally narrowed it down to a Fender P Highway 1 bass with an Ashdown MAG300 head with a Ashdown MAG115 cabinet (maybe an Ampeg BA115 combo amp - but the head and cabinet make it easier to lug around even though its an extra trip).

So, what do people think - would this set up work for rock ?

Be sure to rape the blue note (augmented 4th). Rape it hard and exploit it like the skank it is.

I like the 410 better than the 115, but that is a personal opinion.

You could always get the other one later down the road and use both.

Sounds like you've got it sorted there. And definately go for the MAG.
And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me: no, nor woman neither... nor women neither.

This has to be the smartest n00b I've seen on the bass forum in years.
