Alright,

I am looking for a good mic to use(vocals) for when I go to record some songs on the acoustic. I am looking to spend not too much higher than $100 on a mic.

For that price, I don't really think you can go far wrong with an Shure SM58. That should be within your price range, and it's a quality microphone.
There is poetry in despair.

sure SM58 is a dynamic mic. You will want a condensor. I strongly suggest the MXL 990/991 for acoustic recording. I am glad I bought it. + It comes with a free pre-amp in some deals

Yes, it's a dynamic, but does he have the money to buy a quality condensor? Does he have facilities for phantom power?

hes looking for a mic to do vocals with...not the guitar.

im assuming he already has a mic for the guitar because he says he wants to get a mic for vocals...

if you are looking for a mic to do both the MXL 990/991 combo is a nice start.

The answer is no. Like I said, I have $100 to spend for a mic.

clear me up on something...
what is the mic going to be recording?

vox, guitar, or both?

if you have a preamp you can also get the 990 and 991 without a preamp...

I'm not sure what is different between those two other than no preamp with one but the price is the same so if thats the only difference get the one with the preamp and keep it for a backup or sell it on ebay for money.

Well, I figure that I can just plug the guitar into the interface and record so I would use the mic primarily for vocals.
