I have been playing for a year and ahalf and feel that my picking speed has not improved much in that time. Any exercises that would help increase picking speed would be great. Thanks.

go chormatic
it works

with a metronome, go

12-11-10-9-------------------------------
---------------12-11-10-9-----------------
-----------------------------12-11-10-9---

and so on up and down the neck

The thing i do to increase picking speed is learn as many songs as i can off one album (for me the album is kill em all and/or ride the lightning) and jst play through the songs. You can feel it work your picking hand quite a bit if you go through most of the album.

Alternate pick chromatic exercises? Yea, it's boring but it sure has helped my speed, picking, and dexterity.
