um...is there anything else, like it has to be to do with proportions ? or is it just (27-18)/10 ? giving you change per month assuming it's uniform

total change in length = 27-18 =9

time for change to take place = 10

rate of change = a growth of 9/10th of an inch a month.

Though that seems pretty easy, wasn't there a formula?
