and it didnt create any sort of sound, so I started to fit new parts to it, i fitted a new jack and new pickups, but still nothing!! do i need to strip out my wiring and start again? or is there a quick fix? where can i get hold of all of the stuff that i need?

It was stupid to do that stuff, the most likely option was the cable (i'm hoping you checked it)

Then the jack, then the wiring, the likelihood of you needing new pickups is very low.
