Ok could anyone suggest some good examples of these following items:

A Wah Wah pedal
A good Valve amp, only about 20W-30W, under £300
A Harmonizer effect pedal
A Whammy/Pitchshifter pedal
An Acoustic Simulator pedal

Preferably if it's an online store can you make it UK based or able to mail to the UK?

So far on www.gak.co.uk I've found http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/whammy/2453 for a pitchshifter and http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/crybaby/2455 for a Wah Wah.

So yeah, do they look good and any other examples? I don't want to spend more than like £150 on a pedal, and that's a BIG if, I'd rather spend under £80, but I'm willing to go to £150 if I have to.

Thanks.

Amp Suggestions- Laney VC30-112 (http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/vc30-112/380), Laney VC15-110 (http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/vc15-110/67333), Peavey Valveking 112 (http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/peavey-valve-king-112/68946), Laney LC15R (http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/lc-15r/383), Peavey Windsor Studio (if it's out) (http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/74524 or http://www.guitars.co.uk/acatalog/Peavey_Windsor_Series.html)

Acoustic Simulator - Boss Ac-3 (http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/ac-3/68566)

Any other ideas/links would be accepted!

PS: These sites are the sites for shops near me. http://www.mccormacks-music.com/, http://www.musical-instrumentsuk.co.uk/ingenii.cgi, http://www.guitarstore.co.uk/, http://www.soundcontrol.co.uk/mod_1/pages/mod_1.4/pages/index.php?request=displayStores&showAll=1#Glasgow%20City, http://www.guitar-sales-scotland.com/, http://www.muso-shop.com/Contact.html and http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/

Some of them aren't online stores but if you live near them and you know they sell that stuff their then it's always worth having them listed here.

If you can find your suggestions on their that would be perfect as I can test the products! But if you find it cheaper elsewhere post the cheaper link but tell me it's at these shops so I can try them.

If anyone knows any other good guitar shops in between Ayr and Glasgow could you post links or adresses. Even Edinburgh for a stretch cause if it's cheap I'll go and look and try.

Thanks for all your help so far!

Telecaster - SG - Jaguar
Princeton Reverb, Extra Reverb
P-Bass - Mustang Bass
Apogee Duet 2 - Ableton Suite

Wah: For blues classic rock- Vox v847, for rock and heavier maybe a classic crybaby.
Acoustic Simulator: Boss ac-3
Whammy: Digitech Whammy

since you are in the UK, look at Laney amps. You guys get good deals on them over there.

**** forgot about specs.

Right now I play a cheap BC Rich Warlock Bronze series ran through 2 behringer pedals (a distortion and a flanger) into a BCL10 amp that came with the BC Rich.

I really need to replace the amp before I even think of replacing the guitar because it doesn't even have seperated tone controls it just has one tone knob.

Also, I play everything from acoustic and pop-punk stuff all the way up to death and black metal, but I'd say I mainly play post-hardcore and metal, bands like glassJAw, Alexisonfire, Killswitch Engage, Thursday, Every Time I Die, Slipknot etc.

Anyway yes I was looking at Marshalls but they all seemed to be really expensive or "look-like-valves-but-are-actually-valve-states."

So yeah, please recommend some amps/pedals etc.

In that case, +1 to kurtcobain and beckyjc. VC30.
#11
theres only really the digitech whammy for harmonizer/whammy,

and you can pick up a crybaby for £60

and prolly a laney VC, and an OD to push the amp, or even just a distortion pedal on its own for heavier stuff
Get off this damn forum and play your damn guitar.

How much is that? Any ideas of stores that might even have one that I could try?

I'm in Scotland so we kinda have fuck all.

Even any good stores that might sell used ones?

Actually, I've seen your budget. VC15 might be better, it's £218 from GAK. They ship to Scotland, or at least they should do. Go to Laney, find the distributors bit, enter your location and it should tell you where you can find a distibutor in your area
#14
Laney VC-30 goes for around 300 i think? or 280 or something on GAK.
I'd go with that and possibly a pedal over the top for the heavier stuff like stevo said above.

eh, for KSE and the like, you might be better off with an LC30, valveking, or randall rg50tc...

don't get me wrong, i prefer the vc30, but not for br00talz.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

look second hand!! i got my VC30-212 for £225, and a crybaby for £26, still waiting on the guy to ship the crybaby, but oh my god the vc30

EDIT to Dave: The VC30 CAN do br00t4lz, but it really needs pushing, as in really.

yeah. i mean you need to run it on or close to 10, and even then you'd probably need an EQ pedal, maybe even an overdrive too.

Right if people can post links now if possible with any suggestions cause I'm going to start listing suggestions from people in the first post. Thanks.

OK any of the ones I haven't listed so far are too expensive so if you could find them somewhere other than GAK where it's cheaper than £300 please post links and I'll add them to the list.

I forgot, the biggest guitar store near Ayr (my hometown) is probably McCormacks Music.

http://www.mccormacks-music.com/

That'll show you what they have. A lot of it is really expensive, for instance the Boss AC-3 someone suggested was like £149 in there!

There's some other good ones, but I'm not a hundred percent sure they have online stores or anything, if I find one I'll post it so you can see their selection.

Since you put the VC15 in your first post as a possibility, you might as well get the LC15. The LC15 is modern voiced, better for the music you are playing, and is a little bit more gainy.

LC15- http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/lc-15r/383

that saves you 100gbp from your original amp budget to spend on the rest of your list.

I'll organise it eventually and maybe get a poll of what I should buy...
#24
OK I'll leave the thread for another week and then I'll post a poll for each of the amps, then pedals etc.

So please make your suggestions in the coming week before I post the poll.

Thanks for all the help so far btw!

If you're willing to wait 'til January (provided they don't push the release date any further back) then you could look into a Peavey Windsor Studio. Awesome price for what it's got, bit unknown though. I'll be getting one.
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

around £200, i think. www.guitars.co.uk is advertising £189, but I have no idea what postage from them is.

Also, which christmas? release date has been put back so much i wouldn't say it'd necessarily be out by this christmas...

also, bear in mind you need to try it- it may be completely different to the windsor head, which is what we're basing our recommendations on...

LOL at chinese democracy...

but yeah, that's the one. And £259 on GAK... interesting. I thought the RRP was £229? Thomann is bound to be worth a look too (at least for me in Northern Ireland as GAK postage to here is ridiculous), as it'd have free postage- and its other peavey products are cheaper than the UK, generally.

Release date is January now

If it's not pushed back any further, I'm considering one, I would get a VC30 but everybody's has broken!

I've said this somewhere else but £229 sounds rediculously low for what it's supposedly offering. And how on earth Peavey have pushed it back beyond Christmas makes no business sense whatsoever.

Get it out, man!
#33
as i said, peavey are pretty much renowned for being slow to release...

Not even £229, it should go for lower than that (www.guitars.co.uk has it at £189)...

ridiculously low, though? Not certain. I mean, the valveking goes for $400-odd in the US. That's like £200. Ditto the windsor head. While we pay £300 for each of those (if not £350). It's not so much that the windsor studio is ridiculously cheap, more that, for once, we're getting near enough a direct conversion on its price.

I agree though that on paper it does seem to offer a lot of bang for buck. of course, it could sound like crap.

That's what I thought, I mean the Windsor is like an awesome 120w JCM800 derivative. The Windsor studio is marketed under the same name and is 11-20w with 3 valves in it...

Actually that's not much of a plus for me cause I could go get it myself, the store is like an hours journey from my house, and I'm up their a lot, so unless its much cheaper fast delivery isn't that great.

But thanks for giving me the link anyway now I know they sell the stuff I'm looking for!
