I'm in the process of forming a band, I already have a guitarist (me) and a drummer. The thing is I want to play small gigs around town and I don't know what I need.
I'm pretty sure my 20w amp would hardly be heard in a venue with over 100 spectactors.
Is there anyway to connect the guitar, bass, and mics in a single system ? (we're kind of short on $$$)

guitar > pedalboard/multieffects unit > P.A system

same for bass, although you don't need pedals if the bass is going clean

All the drum mics into the p.a

mics into the p.a

2 problems with this:

1st off it isn't going to give you the best tone ever

2nd, you may not have anough inputs on the p.a, to overcome this you could buy an additional mixer and have the output of that going to the input of the p.a, kind of like a multi-plug adaptor

also if you don;t need to mic the drums, you'll definitely be sorted

you'll blow your PA system trying that -.-

because of how much sound it will all need, and yes, its going to give you awful tone.
and adding a distortion pedal for you would distort the vocals and bass.

a 20w amp is perfectly fine man, i used a 15w amp for a gig that was in a pretty good sized place, there were around like 110specs.
as long as it can get louder then the drums you're a go on that.

A 20 watt tube amp with a 12" speaker dosn't need to be miked at venues that size. A 20 watt solid state practice amp with an 8" speaker does, as most SS amps will sound poor if you push them harder than half volume.

thanks for the help
How do I mic the vocals without a PA system then ? Is there a cheaper way ?

keyboard or microphone amp. probably no cheaper than a cheap P.A system though
