I'm not even going to bother apoligising for amp thread no. 19090239!

I currently have a DSL 401, and firstly it's too big and loud for my room, secondly I don't like the gain. I don't even know why it has an OD1, totally useless imo.

I'm thinking of hitting Denmark street tomorrow in London to try out the amps there.

I play heavy rock/metal, I basically like a lot of gain! I use an Epi Les Paul.

Any suggestions, or should I just try everything I lay eyes on?

Cheers.

Are you wanting a tube? Because...I hate to say it, but if the DSL was too loud, most everything else bar like an ENGL Fireball will be too.

Not really fussed. I don't see me gigging for the forseeable future. I don't even have a band.

My MG15CDR seems to be ok, but I just wanna upgrade.

I had the DSL401 Overdrive volume on full, but then the master volume only about 2 or 3.

I've never had the chance to really crank it, I think my windows would smash.

Ok I have cranked it up to acceptable levels and it still isn't what I'm after!

I don't wanna have to play in a padded room with earplugs everytime I wanna paly some guitar.

Well if you're on a budget but want some good sounds check out the Roland Cube 60, I have one and it is so versatile. It has a whole slew of built-in effects and 9 amp models ranging from Mesa Boogie to Acoustic and the uber cool Dyna-Amp!! I play blues rock/Punk rock and its never let me down yet, I play an SG btw lol. Oh one thing though, you can't have effects like chorus and flanger on at the same time, which is a bummer!! But overall its really good and only £170 quid!!! Hope that helps...

Yeah I've heard a lot of great things about the cubes. Built in effects would be a huge bonus, but I do have a phaser/flanger/chorus pedal.

If the shops have any Cubes I'll be sure to try them out. 60Watts might be a bit much though...
