For those of you who remember the once beautiful http://www.tv-links.co.uk/, which provided links to movies and TV shows hosted on other sites, I bear bad news: the website has been shut down and the owner arrested.

http://www.zeropaid.com/news/9066/TVLinks+Shut+Down%2C+Owner+Arrested%21

Bullsh!t. Complete, utter, bullsh!t. Without even getting into the immorality of punishing people for sharing something they enjoy, he wasn't even hosting the video files, he was merely providing links to where they could be found on other websites.

Do you even have free speech over there in the UK anymore?

I might as well suicide now. Do these corporate fucks even realize how tedious it is to find movies online otherwise?

Fortunately there are similar sites, so they'll never get money from me.

Your libel laws say otherwise, not to mention the incident in the OP.

But thats not the point, the point is another website under the pirate flag has fallen and even though more will replace it (probably in Sweden, pirate mecca), its still sad. Even more so that he got arrested for not doing anything illegal.

Pretty bad news, arrested? very unneccersary.

As much as i love heated up arguements, i can't be bothered today.

He'll get off, he had a disclaimer, and didn't actually host anything as said. He might get a fine though.

That is too bad I remember using TV-Links a couple of times. It was great while it lasted!

If he plea's anything other then innocent hes a stupid person, even in the "Orwellian" UK its not illegal to link to websites doing illegal things. If it were, BBC chairman Michael Lyons would be in prison right now for referancing The Pirate Bay and other BT websites.

Don't know why you tacked that on the end, but this isn't a freedom of speech issue...

It is entirely a freedom of speech issue, how is it not?

Funny, I was JUST going to tvlinks so I could watch something and I realized it wasn't working.

And then I come here and the first thread I see is "RIP TV Links"

:sad

Those ****ers.

For starters, it doesn't involve anything to do with free speech at all.

They arrested him and shut down his website for posting links to sites of questionable legality almost entirely in other countries. How is that not a free speech issue? File shareing and piracy in general is a free speech issue, but this case in particular is complete bullsh!t.

It's not a free speech issue because he was not expressing his opinion, and getting censored, or denied the right.

Either way, he's not gonna get charged.

I felt a loss as well, but we'll get through this dude... I'm mourning right now by watching season 3 of The Office I got from BT. Sharing is caring, brother.

You don't need to be "expressing your opinion" for your free speech rights to be violated. Ever hear of Freedom of the Press? That applies to all publications, websites included, and "discussing" other peoples illegal activities is not a crime.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree here. We both agree that the dude is innocent, however it's just this issue irking us.

I guess your right, it doesn't matter what hes not guilty of, it matters that hes not guilty of it!

That doesn't make sense. All he did was offer links. Look, here's the latest Office episode:

Better take that down before you're arrested and charged with copyright theft.

EDIT: Oh **** I'm referenced you referencing a video, I'm ****ed too!!
