Can anyone reccomend me some real emocore? The only band I know is Rites of Spring, so even the most basic stuff would help. I wasn't sure whether I should post this in here or in the pop-punk forum, but I would guess in here, since real emocore is closer to hardcore then pop-punk...

Rites of spring is straight up emo.

As far as im concerned there is no such thing as emocore.

They're not talking about hardcore punk, they're talking about "hardcore." It has little in common with its roots in the '80s.

I was under the impression that emo was the same thing as emocore, but w/e.

Any suggestions?

no, straight up emo doesnt have real heavy guitar riffs. emocore does.

Great list Rutch. On re-reading this one I'd have to say Solid State means not liquid or gas.

I figured it out.

are you sure about that?

Emo is pretty much split up into screamo (which is more or less the continuation of the original 80's emotional hardcore) and "indie emo" (softer, more pop-orientated emo as pioneered by Cap'n Jazz).

anyways, here's a list that was on the first page of the real screamo thread in the pop punk forum. I've bolded the bands that I recommend.
