Can someone post some good 5 strings that are cheap(Around $400), but would be a nice upgrade from a squire-p.
Preferably darker colorings (Black, grey, ect.)
......How much would it cost to get a guitar painted grey or black?

EDIT: I like stuff like Linkin Park, Korn, all the way to Pop-punk.....mostly heavier stuff though

Anyways, from what I know, it's a pretty good bass. My friend owns one, and it plays nice, especially with Blue Steels. The pickups are active, so make sure to buy a pack of 9-volts if you like to play a lot.

Sex, pizza, the smell of fresh washing and slap bass.

^^ Like how both of those look, especially the Schecter....
I still don't know what Active means, can you explain?

OLP MM3 was pretty good IMO.

Cheap amps are "that bad". They suck up your tone like cocaine at Kate Moss' party.

Active pups are pickups that use a battery to give you more output and better range and tone. I'm pretty sure they're electromagnetic, which is the reason they operate on 9V batteries.

There's a little panel in the back that you can pop open and replace the battery.

...Yes...

I've never played the Schecters though, so I'm not sure about how good they are. Just go to a local guitar shop and test them out, choose which one you like most.

Look ESP or Ibanez. With a low price range don't be afraid to go used. So go to a local shop and try some stuff out. Not sure about specific models, I happen to be a fender guy. Sry.

Bump

So are there any other 5 strings that look similar to a stingray?

the Fender Jazz Deluxe V, MIM, gets my vote. probably in the $300-$400 range, used. the string spacing is a little wide for me, but it is a monster, of a bass. Shecter, and Ibanez would get my second choice award.

For that money id start on a ibanez maybe or a esp!.. Schecters are pretty sexual but would they suit that type of music?

nice cheap 5 string basses
I'll lay waiting, just waiting for my time to come

I have a Spector 5-string in dark gray with a quilted finish I got used for $325. It isn't one of their higher end basses but I use it on the frontlines and it sounds great.

I've got it paired with an Ampeg SVT3-Pro head and SVT-HLF 4x10 cab.
