Is anyone else in your house using internet/downloading?
That could be the problem >.<
Other than that make sure you port-fowarded right.

Are you on win XP? Look up the Event ID 4226 Patch (EvID4226Patch223d)
Windows XP Service Pack 2 introduced an array of security "enhancements": dual direction firewall, several long overdue IE improvements, memory protection and the crippling of the TCP/IP stack. (This patch is only for: Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 Server SP1 and up)

Windows XP SP2 limits the maximum concurrent half-open connections (SYN) to a maximum of 10 (the previous limit was over 65,000). This is supposed to slow down certain viruses because their spreading strategy is to connect, to a high amount of random IP numbers. The drawback to this connection limit is that other network intensive applications can be slowed, including Peer-to-Peer (P2P) clients.

It worked beautifully for me.

Appears I did not read your post entirely. I apologise.

Post the results back. How far away you are from your nearest server affects speed more than your "speed", if you get what I mean.

I am quite a long distance from the nearest server, and I'm running MSN at the moment too.

I am one of 2 computers on a LAN network, that's why I forwarded the ports. The other computer is on, but isn't being used at the moment.
Yeah i have checked and they are defiantly open.

I usually use BitCommet, and that did something to the SP2 file that looks very similar to that. Something about the "Half-Open" limit if i remember correctly, which is currently set to 135.

Or does that do a completley different thing.

Probably just a slow torrent then, your connection seems good. There may well be 56 seeds, but if they all have a slow upload speed, and there are many times more leechers, it's not going to hurtle along

Nope, it's that. If you're using Utorrent, make sure that it is set to the 135 on Preferences>advanced>net.max_halfopen.

its gonna be slow no matter what, i have done everything and its still slow people do upload as fast as they can so your download speeds will suffer.
#13
torrent are generally just pretty slow. if ur getting **** for free, just deal with it and dont complain.
#15
It has gotten slightly faster, but not a huge change... i guess there are some people being really stingy with their UL speeds.

Thanks guys.

Also I'm DLing freeware so nuts to you Roach5 and SilentDeftone
